@Mark_Changizi we also cry when extremely happy, when cutting onions-could it be to cloud vision/clear eyes?
sandygautam
@Mark_Changizi perhaps experiments that manipulate state sadness/happiness/arousal and measure sense acuity can settle this!(if effects big)
sandygautam
@Mark_Changizi and then we can argue that the effect is of mood on senses with arousal acting as mediator:-)
sandygautam
@Mark_Changizi braoden-and-build hypo. modified to sensory domain. if in chronic good mood, makes sense to attend to stimuli more vividly?
sandygautam
@Mark_Changizi what about mania then, the effect of more physiological arousal leading to more vividness/acuity? or the broadening hypo.?
sandygautam
@Mark_Changizi although I'm moveing levels here...form sensory to cogntive braodening in mania/ restriction in depression
sandygautam
@Mark_Changizi maybe it has to do with sensory gating..more gating in depressed as compared to the broadening effects of mania/positive mood
sandygautam
@Mark_Changizi I've covered earlier on my blog how all senses (like sense of smell, taste) become more acute in mania as compared to dep.
sandygautam
@Mark_Changizi dont know why , but it has been apparent to me that world seems more vivid (color and all) in mania as compared to dep.
